A festive campaign has a habit of arriving late. Black Friday falls on the last Friday in November, gift guides are going live, and the product photos or promo film still need shooting. An infinity cove is one of the quickest ways to get festive content done well, because the background looks after itself. This guide explains what an infinity cove is, which Christmas ideas work best on one, and a we provide a four-week checklist to plan your shoot. It is written for small brands, online sellers, marketing managers and content creators in Essex and London.

What an infinity cove is, and how it differs from a cyclorama and a green screen

A background with no corners.

An infinity cove is a studio set where the floor curves smoothly up into the wall, so there is no visible corner or horizon line. Whatever you place in front of it appears to float in endless space, which makes it a favourite for product shots, fashion and promo films.

You will also hear the word cyclorama, or "cyc" for short. The term comes from theatre and, in everyday studio use, means almost the same thing: a smooth, curved backdrop. A green screen is a different idea. It describes the colour, not the shape. When you film against a single bright green, editors can replace it with any background they like, a technique called chroma keying.

Our studio brings the two together: a curved, seamless green screen infinity cove. It measures 17 ft (W) x 33.5 ft (L) x 9.5 ft (H), with a 180-degree curve, a professional lighting rig and drive-in access. The seamless design avoids shadows and hard edges, so there is less to fix in the edit.

Christmas shoot ideas that work on a green screen infinity cove

Simple setups. Seasonal results.

A plain, seamless background gives you plenty of room to be creative. These Christmas video ideas and Christmas product photography setups work well:

  • Hero product shots. Clean, well-lit images of your best sellers, ready for your website, marketplace listings and adverts.
  • Gift guide and bundle films. Group products into themed bundles and shoot a short film for each.
  • Festive scenes added in the edit. Shoot on green, then place your product in a snowy street, a cosy living room or an animated winter scene. One shoot can produce several different looks. Want an animated character? Check out our article on how motion capture works.
  • A message from the team. A short greeting from your founder and/or staff, reused across email and your socials.
  • Short vertical clips. Countdowns, offers and "unboxing" moments made for Reels and TikTok.

Because the setup stays the same, you can batch a whole season's content into one booking: stills in the morning, video in the afternoon, the team greeting last. The layout can be adapted for anything from a solo presenter to a multi-person scene, and drive-in access makes bulky props easy to bring in.

A four-week planning checklist

Four weeks is enough, if you start with the end in mind.

Week one: plan

  • Decide the deliverables first. List every place the content will appear and the format each one needs. Typical examples are 16:9 for your website and YouTube, 9:16 for Reels and TikTok, and 4:5 for the Instagram feed. Frame your shots so the key subject sits near the centre, which makes it easier to crop one take for several channels.
  • Make the infinity cove booking. Sign paperwork, agree your arrival time/departure time, number of crew that will be attending and and how you will bring in props.

Week two: prepare

  • Write the shot list. For each shot, note the product, the angle, any movement and the length. Mark which shots are "essential" and which are "nice to have".‍
  • Gather props and wardrobe. Order spare products in case of damage. Avoid green clothing and props, because anything green can disappear when the background is keyed out. At Christmas that includes trees, wreaths, holly and elf costumes, so plan alternatives or add them in the edit.

Week three: confirm

  • Confirm the booking and share your plan. Confirm all booking arrangements, and share your plan for the shoot.‍
  • Sort talent and permissions. Confirm who is appearing, when they are free, and that you have signed release forms covering how the content will be used.

Week four: shoot

  • Shoot the essentials first. Capture the must-have shots early, check footage as you go, then use the remaining time for the extras.‍
  • Plan the edit and sign-off. Decide who approves the final cut and how long you need, then export a version for each channel.

Green screen or white cove for your campaign?

Choose the finish before you choose the date.

The right background depends on how you will use the footage. Our cove is green, which gives you flexibility. You shoot once, then place the subject in any scene, which suits festive scenes, animated elements and videos with a changing backdrop. If all you need is a plain white background for classic e-commerce shots, the green can be keyed out and replaced with white in the edit, but the result depends on your product and your lighting.

One practical point: shiny products such as jewellery, glass baubles, metallic wrapping and mirrored packaging can pick up a green tint from the cove. This is called colour spill, and it is usually corrected in the edit. If your range is very reflective, tell us when you enquire, and we will talk through the best approach for your products, including how to keep colour spill under control and what that means for the edit.
